Texting over Talking on the Phone
![]()
I hate talking on the phone, even cell phones, I am just not too crazy about talking on my cell. Don’t get me wrong, I like the stuff you can do: check e-mail, browse the web, play games, listen to music, and call someone during an emergency or just sweet talk a babe late at night. I like the technology, but I hate talking on the phone, I really do. It wasn’t always this way. When I bought my first cell phone with Cingular, long ago, I talked like crazy and was dumb enough to go over my minutes about every other month. Those $500 bills still give me nightmares. Naturally, I toned it down and with the advent of text messaging, I changed the way I communicated. Now, all I do do is text message instead of calling.
Text messaging removes all the awkward moments of silence that often occur during phone conversations. I know I must sound lame, but heck, I really prefer texting over calling. It is not that I am cheap with my minutes, I actually had unlimited texts and unlimited minutes with T-Mobile for over 2 years, but changed my plan as I was only using an average of 150 minutes per month. Some people may be under the impression that I am cold and distant since I never call but that is not the case. Just shoot me a text message and I will reply almost instantly. The way I see it, I don’t have a phone, I have a text messaging machine!
