Hey! I understand your sense of frustration. I totally get it, and you know what?! You aren't the only one. Several (over 6 people from HBU) students I know transferred out of HBU. One went to Sam Houston State University, others for cheap classes at Kingwood, and the rest to UH.
HBU has a challenging science college, difficult but rewarding. If you find yourself that you are repeating Bio 1 for the third time, you have to stop and ask yourself, "what am I doing wrong?" and "is med school and the life sciences really what I want to do?"

Bio 1, I found, was all memorization when I took Hopp. As you no doubt know, all upper levels are much more challenging than Bio 1. The hardest classes at HBU are General Physiology, Neuroscience, and Immunology (Genetics with Horn as well). The reason I left HBU was due to financial reasons, I did have the Presidential Scholarship but it just wasn't enough to help cover all the semesters until I graduated. Personally, I would recommend you transfer to UH. Some classes are easier than at HBU and some aren't, it depends on who is teaching. As a whole, it is a more laid back school. Also, it is better to graduate from UH with a 3.3 GPA than from HBU with a 2.95 GPA. UH students are admitted to Dental and Medical school ALL the time, not to mention Pharmacy and PA programs. A new school could be what you really need, and you would save money as well.

I don't know who you are, but you can look for me in Facebook, or e-mail me at mickeyoscar@hotmail.com if you want more info.

Okay so I am seriously considering going to UH or HBU annnnd this is the only blog that I found comparing the two schools. It's like I like the small classroom idea, but I'd rather be on a campus with more students and surrounded by more people. Thank You much for this blog. It helped!!!

HBU girl:
Thanks for stopping by! UH is a great school, the more I attend, the more things I discover. Classes are tough, but most professors drop your lowest test grade. Also, there is no roll call, you can pretty much study at your pace. Professors hand every test back along with the key, so you can see where you need to improve. I can tell you right now, I feel more free and less stressed at UH Main campus!
