The New Immigrants: Why U.S./Mexico Tensions Are How They Are

The United States of America and Mexico have never had the most cordial of friendships. Mexico entered political turmoil after achieving its independence from Spain in 1821; unfortunately, political corruption still plagues the country today. It is estimated that there are 111 million Mexicans in a land area of over 760,000 sq. miles. This places Mexico as the 11th most populous country and the 14th largest by total area in the world, respectively. The United States, on the other hand, declared its independence on July 4, 1776 from the British Empire and was recognized as independent in 1783. Its remarkable Constitution led to a stable government, which the former British colonies and new American States all ratified in 1788 and amended with the Bill of Rights in 1791. Currently, there is an estimated 309 million Americans in about 3.8 million sq. miles, the 3rd largest by both population and land area, with only Russia and China being larger. Maintaining unity at the end of the US Civil War, securing the Louisiana Purchase from Napoleon, and winning the Mexican-American War in 1848 and the Spanish-American War in 1898– all helped make the United States one of the strongest countries in the world and defined its present day boundaries. After World War II and the subsequent collapse of the Soviet Union, America eventually became the sole super power in the world.
The reason Mexico and the USA aren’t warm friends goes a long way back. In 1821, the American, Stephen F. Austin, carried his father’s vision of buying 307 parcels of land in Texas, a province belonging to Mexico after attaining their Spanish independence, and bringing 300 colonists to the area. The settlers had to eventually become Mexican Citizens and upon receiving their land titles became known as the Old Three Hundred, the first approved Anglo-American immigrants in Texas, along the Brazos River. Mexican law required the new immigrants to be Catholic and prohibited the possession of slaves, but the settlers didn’t pay much attention to that, since they were settling where no Spanish or Mexican settlements existed; consequently, most were Protestant and about 25% of them brought slaves with them. This would eventually become a problem with Mexico, as more and more Anglos continued to settle in Mexican land, as illegal immigrants. By 1834, Texas had a population of approximately 37,800 with only about 7,800 of Mexican origin. With this in mind, the Anglo immigrants started to think of independent statehood. This ties in beautifully with something Sun Tzu describes in his treatise, The Art of War, which I completely agree with:
Mo Tun of the Hsiung Nu established his power near the end of the Ch’in dynasty. His neighbors, the Eastern Hu were mightier and constantly sent ambassadors, making demands. “They said: ‘We wish to obtain T’ou Ma’s thousand-li horse.’ Mo Tun consulted his advisors, who all exclaimed: ‘The thousand-li horse! The most precious thing in this country! Do not give them that!’ Mo Tun replied: ‘Why begrudge a horse to a neighbour?’ So he sent the horse. Shortly after, the Eastern Hu sent envoys who said: ‘We wish one of the Khan’s princesses.’ Mo Tun asked advice of his ministers who all angrily said: ‘The Eastern Hu are unrighteous! Now they even ask for a princess! We implore you to attack them!’ Mo Tun said: ‘How can one begrudge his neighbour a young woman?’ So he gave the woman. A short time later, the Eastern Hu returned and said: ‘You have a thousand li of unused land which we want.’ Mo Tun consulted his advisers. Some said it would be reasonable to cede the land, others that it would not. Mo Tun was enraged and said: ‘Land is the foundation of the State. How could one give it away?’ All those who advised doing so were beheaded.” Mo Tun then sprang to his horse and made a surprise attack on the Eastern Hu, swiftly decimating them.
The point I’m trying to make is precisely that, the importance of land to a country. All those centuries ago, Chinese generals understood the importance of land to the State and General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna knew this. The white colonizers couldn’t just keep land that wasn’t theirs, simple as that. It is analogous to owning land, inviting people to live for a while and those same people wanting to keep your lands afterwards. Thus, Santa Anna marched from Mexico City to keep the Texas colonists in order. We all know the subsequent battle at The Alamo and the Texans’ victory at San Jacinto, which led to Texas independence in 1836. Mexico always planned to take it back, an effort hindered by the United States’ annexation of Texas into the Union on December 29, 1845. This led to further discontent between the two countries. The 19th century American belief of Manifest Destiny was crucial to the countries falling out with one another. Americans arrogantly believed that it was the United States’ “destiny” of expanding from the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean by any means possible. This precipitated the Mexican-American War, a ruse to take land from Mexico. At the time, Mexico was weak and America saw a juicy opportunity in 1846-48, under President Polk’s administration, declaring open war on its southern neighbor. Many Americans protested and disapproved of the war. One of my heroes, Henry David Thoreau was one of them. He refused to pay his poll tax, money used to fund the Mexican-American War and was imprisoned for it. Thoreau’s famous Civil Disobedience essay emerged from that experience:
“…The standing army is only an arm of the standing government. The government itself, which is only the mode which the people have chosen to execute their will, is equally liable to be abused and perverted before the people can act through it. Witness the present Mexican war, the work of comparatively a few individuals using the standing government as their tool; for, in the outset, the people would not have consented to this measure.”
Here, one can easily discern that Thoreau saw the Mexican War for what it was, a scheme by a small group of men to take land from Mexico. However, Thoreau rebukes his fellow countrymen for not being more honest and protesting the war and slave trade in a proper fashion. The war was a disaster for Mexico, as it lost approximately half its territory, in the end only receiving 15 million dollars and an external debt to America cleared. The United States, in turn, had total control of Texas, the Rio Grande River became the official U.S.-Mexico border, and it obtained the present-day states of Utah, Nevada, and California and parts of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Gold was almost immediately found in California afterwards, spurring the Gold Rush.
I don’t know about you, but the way I see it, Mexico has reason to be upset, wouldn’t you agree?
If we now shift focus to the present day, we can see the current problems between the two countries. Namely, drug trafficking and immigration. Let’s keep it with immigration. America is the melting pot of the world, everyone knows that. Immigrants, either illegally or legally, come here in search of prosperity, of the “American Dream”– a better life for each person and their family. That is nothing new. Mexico is a third-world country, which means people will migrate to the nearest country with the best economy, and that happens to be their northern neighbor, the USA. It isn’t rocket science that people will be prone to leave their country in search of a better way of life. America exports much pop culture to the rest of the world, making it all the more attractive. Today, most immigrants come from Mexico, Central and South America, and Asia. The largest flow of illegal immigrants, of course, comes from Mexico. Are they breaking the law? Yes. Are they harming the country? I do not think so, and I can debate anyone, any day of the week, on this issue. I think the common American is truly misinformed of what it means to be an “illegal” immigrant. This so, because they do not directly experience the day to day struggle these people go through. It’s easy to label someone a “wetback” and to use them as scapegoats for our dilemmas, but people air their opinions without once putting themselves in their shoes. People are so naive that they think, “people should come here legally”. Trust me, if people could, they would. It isn’t easy for the new waves of immigrants to get here and survive here. Millions upon millions of immigrants from all over Europe used to arrive at Ellis Island in New York, with a much easier pathway to citizenship than the one illegal immigrants face today.
What is an illegal immigrant, by the way? Is it the name of a second or third rate citizen? Is it someone below human level? More than anything, an illegal immigrant is someone who fights for a better life. Did not God endow us with a visa to the whole world, from the moment we are born? Are people to stop at man-made boundaries, because elite people say so? Modern illegal immigrants come to work, the grand majority anyways. There is always that small fraction that come to commit crimes, but we shouldn’t form a judgment by such a small group alone. Most do come to work, doing the jobs hardly anybody wants to do. People who do dry cleaning, house keeping, construction, restaurant servers, lawn people, and all types of handymen are often illegal immigrants, for example. It is a rare sight indeed to see an illegal immigrant of not only Mexico, but any country, to be asking for handouts at a traffic intersections–like many white and black American citizens do everyday. These immigrants come to work. They have the guts to leave home and country behind, facing uncertainty– all in search of a better life for themselves and their loved ones. They start from zero. Can you do that? Would you risk death by crossing the desert or swimming the Rio Grande if that was the means to prosperity? For it is necessity not pleasure that spurs people to leave their homeland. Think of it this way, if your family needs prescription medication but you cannot afford it, and there’s a pharmacy on your street corner, what would you do? Let your family die for not having the money to buy the medication or break into the pharmacy and take the medication? If you had no other choice, what would you do? I would break into the pharmacy. FYI, the pharmacy is the United States.
Not to offend anyone, but what type of illegal immigrant is worse? The illegal white immigrant who came to America and eradicated the Native American population and subjugated African slaves, or people that come here to make an honest living by doing the toughest, often most physical of jobs?
I know which one Thoreau would deem as worse. So, what is the big deal with providing a pathway to citizenship for 11 millions illegal immigrants and passing the DREAM Act, so illegal students can have financial aid for college and a way to get a job when they graduate? Let us not forget that by being an illegal immigrant, you are denied of many things that can best be summed up as crimes against humanity. Even after being in America for years, illegal immigrants cannot obtain a social security card, a driver license, a passport, financial aid from FAFSA, and many other things. People are prohibited from reaching their true potential and their dreams. What is the point of having a grade-A brain and not being able to find a job worthy of you capabilities? That is a shrewd waste of talent, if you ask me. Now, some people who are anti-immigrant would always point out that illegal immigrants create a strain in our economy. Namely, that such people abuse welfare and medical treatment, that billions of dollars go to waste, money that comes from American tax payers. While that is true, people fail to grasp the larger part of the picture. Illegal immigrants help the economy by paying 8 cents on every taxable dollar for goods and services. They eventually purchase houses and vehicles, thus, helping the economy move. Moreover, many illegal immigrants resort to using fake social security numbers, hence, they never get reimbursed on federal taxes, allowing Uncle Sam to keep billions of dollars every year. Most people don’t even know that, or just plain don’t accept it. One must also note that more and more Hispanic immigrants establish their own businesses, with revenue accumulating in the billions of dollars. Therefore, when people come my way arguing how illegals are ruining the country, I return them stupefied. And If you think I am just airing my opinions, think again.
From Wikipedia:
“According to James Smith, a senior economist at Santa Monica-based RAND Corporation and lead author of the study “The New Americans: Economic, Demographic, and Fiscal Effects of Immigration”, immigrants contribute as much as $10 billion to the American economy each year. Separate research by both George Borjas, Robert W. Scrivner Professor of Economics and Social Policy at Harvard University and Paul Samuelson, Nobel Prize-winning economist from MIT has shown that illegal immigration had a substantial effect on reducing the economic status of U.S. poor while benefiting middle class individuals and wealthier Americans.”
Immigrants, be them illegal or legal, are what makes our country strong. If America wants to curtail the flow of immigration, it should build a wall all along the border and add more border patrol and aerial surveillance as well… but to the people that have been living in the shadows for many years– those 11 millions immigrants– they should receive a pathway to permanent residency and citizenship… now. You simply cannot deport 11 million people. What’s more, people become Americans by being exposed to the American way of life. A paper shouldn’t dictate if you are an American or not, it is our values and morals that make us Americans in the end.
The way things are right now, with the current Arizona law passed by governor Jan Brewer (another reason I dislike conservative republicans), things are beginning to get ugly. If the federal government doesn’t do something soon, the problem will escalate. It is my hope that the Latino community rises up from its slumber and demands its due. There is a feeling of hatred bubbling up among people on opposite sides of the issue. The fact that U.S. Border Agents shot and killed a 15 year old boy in Ciudad Juarez for reportedly throwing rocks and the murder of a man, Anastasio Hernandez Rojas, who was applied taser 4 times and beaten on the head with a baton for resisting deportation, have no doubt exasperated the Hispanic community this month.
I, for one, know where I stand on the issue. Where do you stand?

Mexico definitely is capable of joining in, especially with NAFTA agreements and the TTC and other superhighways being pushed through.
I really don’t like it, as far as the USA being ready to go – I’m not ready, I don’t want it. It destroys national sovereignty, eliminates the constitution, and forces the people of sovereign nations to be subject to policies formulated at the international level. Once there’s an NAU, it will be merged with the EU, Asian, African, and South American Unions into one World Union.
Sounds an awful lot, at least to me, like the beginning formation of the kingdom of Antichrist described in the book of Daniel.
What I dislike the most is that all the plans for the NAU, TTC, “Amero”, etc. were started by the Bush Administration, and continued by Obama – all without the approval of Congress or the People of the United States. Same goes for Calderon, and Harper moving on the plans without the approval or even the full knowledge of their citizens.
We’ll see what it comes to, but I for one am against it.
July 28th, 2010 at 8:24 am
It may happen Colin. However, Mexico needs to fix their corruption first. Canada and USA are ready to go, and Mexico, contrary to what people believe, do have the financial resources to join in a triad. We’ll see what happens…

Has anyone heard about the North American Union?
I for one don’t like it, but I think they’ll make it happen anyway, what do you guys think?

I guess I should’ve prefaced this with more details:
This information and the comments in that post were forwarded to me by a friend (who forwarded it on from someone else). The comments are not my own, I just thought it was an interesting perspective and wanted to pass it along.
I agree that it is to be expected, but I had no idea the waste was like that.
I don’t think my friends care too much whether or not people are crossing the border illegally, they just wish there was more of an enviromental effort to clean up the waste left behind. I’ll certainly forward your link back to them though, Oscar.
Of course the Arizona Law will be repealed, for many reasons – none of which have to do with human rights.
US corporations get cheap labor from illegal immigrants.
And they are permitted to take advantage of healthcare and welfare services, which increases the national debt, further enriching the international bankers and the private owners of the Federal Reserve.
I found this link more informative:

seriously Colin?
July 22nd, 2010 at 4:50 pm
Lol! That’s to be expected.
It all begins with perception and ends with perception. Does your friend in Arizona expect illegal immigrants to not bring food supplies, clean clothes, and water jugs as they face the harsh desert? Walking endlessly in the baking sun, sweat pouring from every pore, blisters on your feet… dodging snakes, wolves, and shots by farmers and minutemen… all in search of a better life? What drives people to risk their lives coming here? Wouldn’t you come here if your family was starving and you couldn’t find a job to make ends meet? Countless die crossing the desert every year and I don’t see much of that on CNN, either. As the Arizona law is about to be repelled, the boycott on Arizona will continue anyway.
Most who cross aren’t villains. You have to give them a chance, not use them as scapegoats.
I like this example most:

This is information forwarded to me by a friend, thought I should pass it along:
“These photos were sent to me by former Arizona Senator Karen Johnson, who saw these areas in person. Why don’t we see these on the major media? What a travesty!
Kathy and Bert”
“Hi All:
I just thought you might like to see what our borders really do look like. About three years ago, when I was still in the Arizona legislature, the Game and Fish flew several of us down to the border and this is exactly what we saw. They showed us pictures of the animals that had eaten much of the refuse (even tin cans) and of course died. There is tons and tons of trash and refuse in these washes and Manzanita groves. Volunteers try and come every few weeks at various spots along the border and clean up but it is never ending and the groups (Lions Clubs, Rotary, etc) just can’t get a handle on it. I have always wanted to know where are the ENVIRONMENTALISTS???? Just thought you would find all of this interesting as it is as accurate as can be. Please feel free to send this along to other friends, especially out of state, so they might understand what we are facing here in Arizona.
Blessings,
Karen J.”
AZ Sonoran Desert, outside Tucson, AZ
Hey everyone out there!
We, in Arizona, know you’re boycotting us — but you really should come out here and see our Beautiful Sonoran Desert.
It’s just gorgeous right now! We know you’d love it and maybe you can share what you saw with the rest of the country so they can love it too!!!!
http://www.stopnwo.com/az1.jpg
This is on an ‘illegal super – highway’ from Mexico to the USA (Tucson) used by human smugglers.
This area is located in a wash, approximately 1.5 miles long, just south of Tucson, Arizona. If a flood came, all this would be washed to the river and then onto the sea!
http://www.stopnwo.com/az2.jpg
It is estimated over 5,000 discarded backpacks are in this wash. Countless water containers, food wrappers, clothing, feces, including thousands of soiled baby diapers. And as you can see in this picture, fresh footprints leading right into it.
http://www.stopnwo.com/az3.jpg
As we kept walking down the wash, we thought for sure it was going to end, but around every corner was more and more trash!
http://www.stopnwo.com/az4.jpg
And of course the trail leading out of the wash in our city, heads directly NORTH to Tucson, then leads to your town tomorrow.
http://www.stopnwo.com/az5.jpg
They’ve already come through here. Isn’t Arizona just beautiful, America?
Why would you boycott us???
Our desert has basically been turned into a landfill.
http://www.stopnwo.com/az6.jpg
The trash left behind by people illegally crossing our border is another Environmental Disaster to hit the USA.
If these actions had been done in one of our Northwest Forests or Seashore National Parks areas, there would be an uprising of the American people…..but this is the Arizona-Mexican border.
You won’t see these pictures on CNN, ABC, NBC or the Arizona Republic Repugnant newspaper. Nor will they mention the disease that comes from the uncovered human waste left in our desert.
However, with respect to CNN, ABC & NBC, they do offer us “Special Reports” on cheating celebrity spouses….
THIS INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE SEEN BY THE REST OF THE COUNTRY!!!
PLEASE FORWARD……”

I learned something today, and that is this – I think one of the reasons many people fear Arizona’s new law is that so many people in this country do not know their rights (which goes back to schools no longer teaching the Constitution, but that’s another issue).
A friend of mine got stopped in Arizona while driving from New Mexico back to California.
In the end nothing happened to him, other than the officer wasted his time. But as he told me his story, it became clear to me that his time was wasted because he did not know his own rights.
Under this law, police still need to be lawfully in contact with a person to question them about anything. This means they need either a warrant or probable cause. So, when an officer pulls you over on the highway and asks for your license – you have every right to ask why you were stopped, and if they don’t have a reason, you are free to go (If they keep you there after this, ask for their badge number and the phone # to Internal Affairs, they’ll change their mind). Make sure you remain calm and ask politely, but do ask. My friend did not even ask, he just handed over his ID.
The officer asked him if he could search his vehicle. This is also something you have the right to refuse. If you know for a fact, that you are driving 100% legitimately – do not allow them to search your car or any part of your person. In this event, the officer will have to call their sgt. or superior officer to the scene to obtain permission for a search, and when they search and find nothing – you will be let go scot free because the superior officer will be upset his time was wasted. My friend willingly let them search.
They searched his car and found nothing, gave him his license back and let him go saying “sorry, we had a report of a car fitting this description leaving the scene of a crime.”
The law forbids officers from questioning anybody solely on the basis of ethnicity. But, it is true that not all officers obey the letter of the law. My friend feels like he was stopped and questioned just because he is Mexican.
I’m not saying he was, I’m not saying he wasn’t – it is possible the officer just made up the car fitting the description.
But what I told him is had he known his rights, it would’ve gone down much differently. He thought he was required to comply with everything the officer wanted and that is simply not true – Know Your Rights!

Very valid points Oscar. I enjoyed reading that, and you’re right. I really don’t have anything to refute.
I will only share some more history with all of you about the downfall of the USA.
Hundreds of other nations have had much larger populations and greater resources, but have never produced one-tenth of the wealth, science and art that the United States has. Why?
In America, you had an amazing situation because you had the Founding Fathers who figured out that they could deconstruct the Monarchy in such a way…and then reproduce it with the three primary branches of government, in a way that would create checks and balances
and separation of powers. So you could have room, therefore, for individuals to work within the context of a cooperative, which is a democratic system of government, but it would still have enough room for individuals to rise up and become profitable and self-sustaining and…well, rich in the pursuit of happiness, without becoming dictatorial. But unfortunately, over the years, since all of those separation of powers have been cut away and all of the…the beautiful design by the Founding Fathers has been co-opted by one corporate entity, one communist corporate entity, you don’t have that anymore. So what we have… We’re back to where we were before the revolution. You have one monolithic state.
For the first hundred years or so of the United States, after the 1700s when we freed ourselves from British rule, no corporation was permitted…nor was given a charter in the United States, unless it served the public good. It had to prove that. And then its charter only lasted for 10 years or sometimes as long as the project to build a bridge or a canal or something lasted. But it had to be up for review and it could only get chartered if it was shown that it was serving the public interest. That changed, primarily because John D. Rockefeller kind of bribed Delaware and New Jersey, to begin with, into accepting a different system where he said, “Listen. If I pay you lots of money in terms of taxes, etc., I want to be licensed to not have to serve the public good. I want to be able to get around the law.” And, state after state after state changed at that point.
The whole global government plan, people think, is about unity and peace and all that. But it’s not, it’s about dehumanization of the entire planet…population control, attempting to create a utopia for the wealthiest.
We talked briefly about revolution. I think if there is going to be a successful revolution by the people, it will have to be by more than the people of the United States, the people of every nation will have to rise up against their leaders.
But I don’t think there is going to be a successful revolution. I think a few will rebel, but the overwhelming majority will go along with the program, believing their leaders know what’s best for them and taking the mark. The rising world empire is the empire of Antichrist, and they will not be defeated until our Lord Jesus Christ, The Rock, smashes the kingdoms of the world into dust.
PS – love the new “hits” counter on each page.

Colin,
I wanted to address a comment you had made earlier.
“1. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools. * * * * * * * *
2. All ballots will be in this nation’s language. * * * * * * * *
3. All government business will be conducted in our language. * * * * * * *
4. Non-residents will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here. * * * * * *
5. Non-citizens will NEVER be able to hold political office. * * * * * * * *
6. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs. Any burden will be deported. * * * * * * * *
7. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount at least equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage. * * * * * * * *
8. If foreigners come here and buy land… options will be restricted. Certain parcels including waterfront property are reserved for citizens
naturally born into this country. * * * * * * * *
9. Foreigners may have no protests; no demonstrations, no waving of a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or
his policies. These will lead to deportation. * * * * * * * *
10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be actively hunted &, when caught, sent to jail until your deportation can be arranged.
All assets will be taken from you. * * * * * * * * *
Too strict? The above laws are current immigration laws of Mexico.”
I agree that the laws are too strict. However, let me point something out. Mexico, as we all know, is a third-world country. It has the potential to be one of the most powerful countries in the world! Even as it is, it is ranked 13th or 14th in the world in terms of GDP. Political corruption has always been the bane of Mexico. There is virtually no middle class, either you are wealthy or you are in poverty. There is tons of money but it isn’t distributed correctly, leaving the people at the bottom in limbo. Carlos Slim, a Mexican, is the richest man in the world the last time I checked. However, Bill Gates has probably done more for Mexico than Slim. Gates gives schools computers and such, prompting the Mexican government to award him the Order of the Aztec Eagle in 2006, the highest award for foreigners. Slim’s monopoly of telecommunications hurts Mexicans more than it helps.
The reason for such strict measures in immigration is because the Mexico already is limited in resources and jobs. Think about it, there aren’t jobs for its own citizens (that’s why many come here) and immigrants sneaking in from Central America put a greater strain on the country. Mexico is no USA, where people can more easily find a job and where there are more government programs that feed and help the poor.

I know what you mean about the health plan, it is a good idea for everyone to have the same chance to live rather then only the rich live.

I don’t think they intend to throw anyone who revolts in prison. They will more likely be sent to one of the over 3,000 new FEMA camps built around the country over the last 2 or 3 years in preparation (one 2 cities away from where I live).
June 22nd, 2010 at 6:44 pm
Yes, As Thoreau said, it is the people’s job to overthrow the government when the government isn’t doing its job right. However, can anyone throw out the government that is in place right now? No! We are supposed to but we aren’t really allowed. Everyone would have to rise up to begin a new revolution… I don’t see that happening. The government simply cannot toss everyone in jail if most of the population rises against it.

Regarding the “growth in power” of the president/executive branch. If the democracy of the USA were running the way it was originally intended, such a growth in power would not be possible.
The founding fathers attempted to deconstruct the idea monarchy in such a way that there would be a controlled system of government where ideally the government was actually working for the people.
The president “enforces the law” because the law is enforced on the citizens, but the citizens have a say in determining which laws are made and thus enforced on them. If laws are passed that are unconstitutional or that violate basic civil rights, the people are supposed to have the right to remove the president or any other elected official from office and replace them. The president is supposed to work for us, the citizens, and only enforcing laws we want him to enforce, if not we have the right to kick him out.
June 22nd, 2010 at 6:07 pm
It’s not about Obama – McCain, we would have had the same problems with McCain.
That’s the point I’ve been trying to make, there is no left and right; republican or democrat. It’s like the WWE – in front of the cameras they put on a show that the 2 sides are enemies, but behind closed doors they buddy up for a drink and make deals. There is a Cabal of wealthy bankers behind both sides. The Bilderberg Group, Tri-Lateral Comission, and Council on Foreign Relations. The president is just a puppet controlled by the bankers, and congress is just slave to the whims of the lobbyists with the most money. The same people control both sides. The privately owned and out for profit bank – The Federal Reserve – is really in charge and has been ever since the Federal Reserve Act.
The patriot act is definitely unconstitutional. But did it ever strike anyone that the 9/11 attack (which supposedly “justified” the patriot act), was committed by groups that had been trained by our own government? Has anyone taken notice of the fact that although Obama promised to do away with the patriot act, it has actually been expanded under his administration?
Regarding healthcare: I support healthcare reform, and I support healthcare for all those who want it and cannot afford it, but Obama’s bill is far from being the answer. Healthcare is definitely a right that should be available for everybody – but so is the right to choose your own healthcare or if you even want to have insurance. Under that bill, a person is no longer allowed to choose not to have healthcare, nor do individuals get to make choices about their own treatments. The bill calls for the rationing of medicine, Dr. visits, and treatments – all at the discretion of a “healthcare choices commissioner”, with no appeals process. If the individual doesn’t like the commissioner’s decision there’s nothing they can do – the government is given the right to choose for the individual. It also calls for the federal government to have direct access in real time to all citizen’s bank accounts for electronic funds transfers.
And the kicker? All the big wigs in Washington, members of congress, the president and all their families – are EXEMPT from the provisions of this bill. Set aside the other unconstitutional provisions of the bill, that’s the one that’s the most blatant – you simply cannot pass a law that will effect 300 million citizens, and exempt 535+1 people from following the law you pass.
I know the healthcare bill is over 1200 pages, but I think if people were to read the whole thing, a lot of them would change their opinion of it.
Sum, I apologize for the bad link. These should be clearer:

Colin,
The Executive Branch has grown more and more in power. This so because the President has to adapt to new dilemmas that emerge all the time. The Constitution, as great as it is, does not really clarify how the President is to “enforce the law”. That is why we see several new laws which seem (or are) unconstitutional. Take for instance, the Patriot Act. That is one unconstitutional law! However, it was “justified” following the events of 9/11.
See: http://law.jrank.org/pages/6652/Executive-Branch-Executive-Branch-Constitution.html
Same thing with the Healthcare reform. I actually support it, even if I finish med school and it means I would make less money. The art of medicine should be used to heal and treat ALL ill human beings, God’s creations. Is Healthcare a right or a privilege? It should be a right to all human beings, not just people that can afford insurance.
I put no stock on Obama. Politicians breaking promises is what they do best. However, had we stuck with McCain, it would have been Bush-extended, and I truly, truly disliked Bush.

I did not understand much about the video of Bohemian Grove, what is that all about?
June 22nd, 2010 at 12:24 pm
I know that everybody who has posted to this blog so far are Christians.
Has anyone ever heard of Bohemian Grove or what goes on there? As a Christian, this is something that disturbs me greatly.

“Rules for Radicals” I think was the name of his book, Mary. Did you know Obama worked for Alinsky? He was hired by his organizational group on Chicago’s South Side after he graduated from Columbia. They said young Barack was a natural at rallying groups with the promise of change and hope, and then directing them to what needed to happen to bring about that change…..interesting.
He later went to work for Henry Kissinger. He and Hilary (and Michelle Obama) have quoted Alinsky’s works a lot. But it appears as though they’re using Alinsky’s ideals for rallying people together (which were intended to bring about positive social reform), somewhat out of context to aid the implementation of socialist world government – the exact opposite of what Alinsky stood for.

Thank you Colin for your sincere thoughts.
June 21st, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Yeah i heard he wrote some book Radical something or other. but more importantly that Obama and Hilary quote from this man quite a bit.

Saul Alinsky is a frightening example of the New World Order’s power. A devout Jew from Chicago, he was a strong leader in organizing communities from the 1930’s to the 1970’s and his main goal could be stated as – uniting communities together and making them aware of what he called the “growing socialist movement”, and the more he brought people together and stopped them from fighting each other, the more angry politicians became with Alinsky.
From Wikipedia:
“Alinsky described his plans in 1972 to begin to organize the White middle class across America, and the necessity of that project. He believed that what President Richard Nixon and Vice-President Spiro Agnew called “The Silent Majority” was living in frustration and despair, worried about their future, and ripe for a turn to radical social change, to become politically-active citizens. He feared the middle class could be driven to a right-wing viewpoint, “making them ripe for the plucking by some guy on horseback promising a return to the vanished verities of yesterday.” His stated motive: “I love this goddamn country, and we’re going to take it back.”"
Saul Alinsky died shortly after announcing his plans in 1972 of a “heart attack”…we are told.

Anyone heard of Saul Alinsky????

But I am a big enough man to admit that I was wrong, I am guilty of being the ignorant white man in this case, my initial reaction to the new law was “what’s the big deal”, completely ignoring who it actually was that settled the land in the first place.
I really don’t think its a racial issue though, I think its all more related to the imbalance of the wealth of the world.
God appears to be turning back the hands of time to the way society was at Christs first coming. The devils forces are eliminating the middle class so there will only be the filthy rich and the filthy poor.
So I gladly eat my serving of humble pie and a still and now even more strongly say – our only hope is in Jesus Christ.
June 20th, 2010 at 8:59 pm
Sum, as I mentioned I do now think the Arizona bill is wrong, I just think it’s a planned distraction.
Please understand the deepest contents of my heart on this issue – As long as there are people in the world who are “natural” people, unsaved and following their carnal natures instead of following Christ, there will never be justice in this world.
Our only hope in Jesus Christ. Our only hope for families to be safe and anyone to be truly free is when the true King takes power. The religions of the world, the cults, and the watered down mega churches are all going to become a part of the final world system which I believe to be described in Revelation chapters 17 and 18. They are all trying to build a kingdom. Christians already have a kingdom that comes from within, and our mission is to glorify our King.
We (rather I should say I because I do not speak for anyone but myself), am not fighting against powers of this world, I am trying to look past government and activism on both sides to see there are spirit forces behind everything going on in the world and they are fighting against My Lord’s Kingdom from finally coming. They don’t want families to be together for the simple reason that God designed families to be together, and they oppose all that God is.
The Spirit of Christ that is in you sum, I know, is fighting back against them in the way the Lord leads you too. Satan is running out of time and he’s scrambling frantically to make known publicly the evil world empire he has been building since the Fall of Man.
I like to be aware of these things, but I tend not to become tooo concerned with them, seeing as I already know who the King of Everything is. We’re awfully close to Christ claiming His Eternal Kingdom so let me say this to close – I have changed my mind about my original thought about the bill in light of the unabridged history Oscar posted in this blog. I do think it is wrong, but it’s not the battle I’m personally being called to fight. I am waiting for the Kingdom by telling people about the coming King. But I now do fully support the repealing the bill, and prayer is our best weapon for that. Don’t lose hope.

Colin
I know that you are trying your best to be nice about this whole subject but you might have to be careful because you are very smart in the word of God and let me add gifted in revealing the truth of the bible. Almost all christen churches are going in the wrong path in wealth and greed and we need to look at what Jesus would do not what the gov or the rich greedy churches would do. Jesus is loving, caring, thoughtful of others and not him self, he was not selfish and he lived as poor as anyone can get. Our God is good and believe me he has the whole world in his hands, the Mexicans, africans, America, china ex… God has his limits on what is right and what is wrong and my holy spirit gives me a strong feeling that the Arizona law is wrong and raciest. The Arizona law brakes families up and I understand how you say that they can try to be beagle but believe me it is a process sometimes it takes 10 years and living in fear all of your life thinking that some day the immigration will take the mom the dad or the babies away from their loved ones. All of the people that stopped sales with Arizona are doing the right thing, Believe me I would protest too if they were going to try to take away my daughter or my son or my husband if I was not l eagle. The thing to do is to put your self in other peoples shoes, you will never know how it feels unless you were in that situation. Colin this fight is more then you think, Watch the movie Jesus of Nazareth and even if you had seen it before just see it again it might help by watching how much love Jesus had for all people, beagle, short and ex…
June 20th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
And since government leaders are now openly talking about creating a “New World Order”, people should also be aware of what you said Oscar, regarding the British Empire.
It’s not a “New World Order” at all, it’s the same old “wealthy white land owner membered Anglo-American World Order” that’s been around for thousands of years.
Humpty Dumpty will be put back together again, the king promised him with his own mouth that all his horses and men would when Humpty fell.

“Adam Smith’s vision of capitalism is nothing like what we have today. It shreds the lower classes, the working class.”
Fully agree. But I’d like to add that the founding father’s vision of a democratic United States governed of the people by the people and for the people is also nothing like what we have today. It destroys the “land of opportunity” by restricting foreigners from entering more easily, and taking opportunity away from the residents already here. The equal rights of all created people (granted not being perfect given the slave trade at the time) having the liberty to live and pursue happiness is slowly being taken away and transferred back to a desire to be ruled by a king just like in the British Empire. The country has had to fight, but has come a long way in progressing for more equal rights to all. But we’re now seeing the progress stop and pause, spitting and sputtering like the basement faucet, and the final world empire forming. John Adams is rolling over in his grave.
I do now think the bill is wrong despite the language of the lawmakers, but I still think the bill’s purpose is to distract. Did anyone notice that Arizona passed this controversial state law shortly after the “Obama care” bill was passed – a federal law passed which gives a government that can’t even run a cash-4-clunkers program total control over the healthcare industry (20% of the US Economy)??
What we have today is moving towards the final world monarchy. Global Government and the New World Order sounds like conspiracy theory to most people who hear it.
But what do people think the new “World Bank” is? It is the world government that we’re all going to pay the new carbon and cap-and-trade taxes to. It’s a mindset of the wealthy world bankers who control the corporations that “only the rich matter.” Al Gore’s crackpot theory on global warming (driven by bad science) is also a factor by creating global carbon tax, which ultimate goal is not only to make the world bankers richer, but also to stop production. It’s the ideology that led to the French Revolution, it’s an ideology that seeks to always squeeze out more to make the rich oligarchs richer, and the poor poorer. The oligarchs already control the 3rd world, and what there next step is is to collapse the remaining stable economies of the world (why the unemployment rate is about 16% and rising), so that people will want to be merged into a 1-world empirical government, under the final world monarch, the Antichrist.
Part of the oligarch’s plan is to drive a wedge between the citizens of established nations, and I believe that is the real purpose behind the Arizona Law. Partly to keep us fighting against each other so we don’t see the greater agenda. But also partly to figure out who’s going to be loyal to the new world empire’s system.
When I study Bible prophecy, and then I just look at world events, it really shines a different light onto things. I truly feel that we are living in the last days of the last days.
I agree that the U.S. Empire is on the verge of collapse, but I feel that the US, Mexico, Canada, and all of South America are going to be merged into alignment with the European Union, and then merged into alignment with the now predominantly Muslim nations of Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Russia, and others, and then eventually merge seemingly the whole world divided up into new divisions or zones. 1 government, 1 currency, 1 military, and 1 world dictator – the Antichrist. During the great tribulation, this final global empire will make a 7-year covenant with the Nation Israel, allowing Israel to remain sovereign and live peacefully and without walls (Ezekiel 38). But the Antichrist will break the covenant after just 3.5 years, and all the surrounding nations will attack Israel, but a few nations will break away from the Antichrist and come to Israel’s aid (Gog and Magog invasion of Ezekiel 38 and 39).
It is during this final battle that the Lord will return with His raptured saints (I trust He will have taken His church out so before things get really bad down here, I’ll already be up there), and He will destroy the Antichrist’s world empire to establish His own earthly kingdom, a Kingdom that shall have no end.
“And in that you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, even as iron does not combine with pottery. In the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.”(Daniel 2:43-44)
And on that day there will be TRUE JUSTICE in this world for the first time in human history. Both for the poor residents who are denied amnesty, and for the rich oligarchs who rule over them.
The Lord Jesus Christ will distribute all the land of the earth to who it rightfully belongs. All I can hope is that He may give me a little parcel somewhere, He may put me in charge of a little patch of land. Wherever it may be, or however small, What a thing to hope for!
June 20th, 2010 at 11:26 am
Colin,
As always it is a pleasure to read your comments. I believe it is absolutely imperative that we know the history of how things shaped up the way we have them today. There have always been empires and at some point or another, they all collapsed. I imagine you have run into Herodotus of Halicarnassus, the famous Greek historian who describes most of what you mention, in addition to the Bible. The Histories is a great book!
Regarding the American empire, it will also meet its doom. I would never desire such a thing, but it will. History has shown that when an empire collapses, another rises. It is only human to want to be #1 for as long as you can and we can see how America does all it can to maintain its position. You have the CIA doing covert ops to disrupt a country’s rise, in a sense, yanking the country back down. You remember the Monroe Doctrine? In the period of colonialism the United States warned the European powers that any attempts at colonizing in the Americas would be an automatic declaration of war. Hence, France and England and the others preferred to venture to Africa and Asia and NOT the Americas. This, in and of itself, proved catastrophic for Central and South American countries, as it guaranteed their continued poverty. Let’s face it, almost everywhere the British landed, they left behind a strong country with a stable government! India, Australia, South Africa… to name a few. Sure, the said countries endured hardship and fought hard for their independence, but after the British left, they were much stronger countries. Not all, but most. America, hence, interfered with the growth and prosperity of the rest of the western hemisphere. Isn’t it convenient not to have strong rivals for your neighbors, rivals that can one day overthrow you? America knew this and preferred no competition this side of the Atlantic.
Take another look, this time towards Chile in the 1970s. Salvador Allende, a socialist, was elected president democratically. What happened? Well, America has always detested left governments, so the CIA planned a coup d’etat, preferring to oust (and kill) the people-elected Allende and replace with the bloodthirsty dictator, Augusto Pinochet. Do you see how America meddles?! It is ridiculous! I can go on and on, about Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., but it would be a really long comment.
The key is to take a look at the grander scheme of things, to look at how everything is in the world and staying informed. If I were to read about say, Che Guevara, do you think I would trust American press? No! I would rather read about him from Spanish and Mexican press for a more accurate picture of the guy, free of bias. America isn’t the only country that prints books, nor is English the only reliable language.
I do not approve of the Arizona law, for obvious reasons. True, people are reacting in an irrational way, but you have to understand that it is out of desperation. It may not be right, but it is understandable. No matter how you cut it, it leads to racial profiling.
Concerning the New World Order, that is what happens when capitalism runs rampant and unchecked. What keeps it in check is socialism, and what keeps socialism in check, is capitalism. Of course, we all know capitalism is much more dominant right now. Adam Smith’s vision of capitalism is nothing like what we have today. It shreds the lower classes, the working class. There is no perfect mode of government, the most we can aspire to is reaching a balance.
June 20th, 2010 at 4:38 am
And while the Bill may be wrong, people’s reaction to the bill in some cases has also been inexcusable.
The San Francisco City council attempted to undermine Arizona’s right as a state in the union to make their own laws concerning their borders, and called for all business and entrepeneurs to boycott the state of Arizona, as well as the citizens to boycott tourism in Arizona.
Such a call endangers businesses who depend on agricultural imports from AZ for their business to survive. It was even reported that one small business owner in the bay area was receiving harassing phone calls because he continued to import from and export to Arizona.
It also threatens the GDI of the whole nation by threatening another state’s tourism industry.
June 20th, 2010 at 4:17 am
Wow.
Oscar, you presented some history that I wasn’t only partially aware of, and you will now force me to go off and rethink the immigration issue with the perspective of original land claims in mind.
I want to share some history that I hope might give another perspective for some one else with regard to the “superpower” of the U.S.A.
Babylon was a world empire that was made great under the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar from 606 – 562 B.C. As recorded in various historical works (most miraculous being the prophetic book of Daniel – Daniel was a Jewish Prophet who was captured by Nebuchadnezzar from Jerusalem), Babylon was conquered by the Medo-Persian army, led by King Cyrus, who captured the city of Babylon on October 13, 538 B.C. Daniel records in Daniel chapter 5 that a disembodied hand appeared that night in the banquet room of King Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar’s grandson, and wrote on the wall, and he was called in to read and interpret the writing. The writing said (put in modern everyday language) – “your time is up and your kingdom is divided,” and on that same night, Babylon was conquered and the territory was divided between Cyrus and Darius, the dual kings of the Medo-Persian Empire.
The conquest made Cyrus the undisputed ruler of a vast Persian Kingdom covering the known world.
After only 207 years of military dominance, the Medo-Persian Empire was destroyed by the Greeks in 331 B.C. when Alexander the Great exacted his own revenge on the Persians for King Xerxes’ earlier attack on the Greeks (480 B.C.). In a vision recorded in Daniel 8:20-21, the prophet described a rapidly moving male goat, representing the Greek Empire, that destroyed the slower moving 2-horned ram, representing the Medo-Persian Empire.
Alexander the Great began his rule of the Greeks in 336 B.C., he conquered the Persians in 331 B.C., and he continued to expand the Greek Empire through 323 B.C.
In Daniel 8:8, he prophesied about the peak of Alexander the Great power – “the great horn was broken; and for it came up 4 notable ones toward the 4 winds of heaven.”
When Alexander died in Babylon at age 33, his enormous empire was based on city-states such as Athens and Sparta. The Empire was divided up among his top 4 generals, just as Daniel had predicted almost 3 centuries earlier. The Greek Empire in it’s 4-fold division ruled the known world from the borders of India to Eastern Europe from 331 BC to 63 BC.
While 4 small kingdoms emerged from Alexander’s Empire, the 2 strongest were Egypt and Syria. Seleucus Nicator controlled Syria, the large area north of Israel, and General Ptolemy I Soter controlled the agriculturally wealthy Egyptian kingdom to the South, and these 2 battled each other for supreme control over the promised land of Israel during these 2 centuries. Judas Maccabaeus led a rebellion against the Syrian King Antiochus Epiphanes to establish Israel’s independence in 165 BC. Antiochus had destroyed and desecrated the temple in Jerusalem and slaughtered more than 40,000 Jews. Maccabaeus led small under-ground Jewish forces who succeeded through a series of miraculous victories to defeat the much larger Syrian army. (This is what Jews celebrate during Hannukah, BTW). With the victory, Israel recovered a measure of it’s political independence. The descendants of Maccabees became known as the Hasmonean dynasty. They ruled for a century, until the Roman conquest of Israel in 63 BC. Daniel had predicted these things in Daniel 8.
The 4th great world empire, Rome, began in 63 BC and at it’s height covered a vast region encompassing much of North Africa, the Middle East, West Asia, and Europe.
The Roman Empire was divided into 2 kingdoms in 330 AD under the reign of Emperor Constantine, the West being based in Rome and the East based in Istanbul, Turkey. The Goths defeated the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD, but the Eastern Roman Empire (AKA the Byzantine Empire), continued to rule amazingly for another 1,000 years until being defeated by the Turks in 1453.
But the Roman Empire was never conquered, because the Goths, Turks, and Parthians who now make up modern day Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, never succeeded in controlling all of the known world, so you couldn’t call them a world empire.
“Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. And all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn’t put Humpty together again.”
The Roman Empire was never conquered, it just fell apart. It is still alive today in most of the foundations for government and military practices in the world. It never stopped existing, the Roman Empire has been there throughout the ages, just fallen and in pieces like the broken Humpty Dumpty. And how many have tried to put it all back together again? Napolean, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Khomeini, Pol Pot, Charlemagne, Ahdimenijad,…I’ll lose count if I keep going.
The Roman Empire was still there in the countries of Great Britain and Spain which settled in the “new world” of North America. They showed the spirit of the Roman Empire was still in them, even though the Empire itself was in pieces – they cruelly and brutally took the land from the Native Americans and those who had claimed this land before them, taking their land and calling it their own. The Roman Empire was still there, in pieces, under the surface, when the U.S.A., Mexico, and Canada as well, became sovereign nations.
Daniel predicted in Daniel chapter 2, that the final human world empire would be revived from the one preceding it (the iron preceding it would become iron mixed with clay). Humpty Dumpty is still in pieces, all they need is a world leader to put it all back together again. This world leader will be none other than the Antichrist.
I believe it was Aristotle who first spoke of an “Oligarchy” in Greece, that is – a small group of elite aristocrats, who controlled the majority of the citizens, because they had the money to control the government. The Oligarchy was present in Rome, and it is present actually in most world governments today.
Consider the primary political parties of Mexico and the United States. The Democrat – Republican system of the U.S. is analogous to the PRI – PAN of Mexico. But the Oligarchy is present because the same wealthy global elites that control the Democrats also control the Republicans, and on issues that matter to the global elites, the 2 parties act as one.
They wrap themselves up with the American flag and talk about preserving our American Heritage, while at the same time they’re attempting to move us into a global banking-controlled government where we would lose our sovereignty and lose all connection with our American heritage.
If you consider the policies on markets and finance which Obama holds right now, compared to the policies of Bush, you can see that both of them are serving the same Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and other Wall Street interests. That tells you that the buck doesn’t really stop at the white house with Obama, there is a behind the scenes puppet master making him dance.
The right – left paradigm in U.S. politics is taken directly from the corporate world. In the business world, you have “duopolies”. You have Coke-Pepsi, McDonalds-Burger King, AT&T-Verizon, Apple-PC. Duopolies give the illusion of there being some competition and some choice. It looks a little bit better than a monopoly. In Communist Russia, if they had “Sickle Chartrus,” and “Hammer Red,” there would have been the illusion of choice and something akin to democracy in Russia. But instead they said “forget that, we’re just gonna go with hammer and sickle red.” In America there is the left-right paradigm which gives the illusion of choice, when the reality is there is no choice, the choice is to supply more rent to the rent seekers who have taken the system hostage.
It is these corporate interests such as Goldman Sachs, Chase, Disney, and all of them right on down the line that are bringing in the push toward a one world global government. They control the market, the media, and the government, and they can control how 40% of Americans feel about it by the news, programming and advertising on TV. What makes me think that? What is an oligarchy if not the few who have the most money controlling the many through directing government to serve their own interests?
When I was a kid, I would look at a globe and see all the countries, and a few of the countries (I thought) had a lot of power, like Russia, the USA, China. Now I look at the globe and I see it covered by these swirling black clouds that know no national boundaries, hovering above, moving in and out across all borders and buying control of government of any country that has resources which they covet. Those black clouds are the big corporations, and their agenda is slowly creating the revival of the Roman World Empire prophesied by Daniel. European Union formed, and now the economies of the U.S. and the world are being weakened to gain support for their plans for global currency.
World events are lining up with Bible prophecy. It’s only a matter of time before someone can put Humpty Dumpty back together.
If you want to know my honest opinion of this immigration issue in light of these things, here’s my thoughts: As also predicted by Daniel, when the world government takes over, and the Antichrist has the whole world united in a false peace (because he will also be trying to destroy the Jews) that is the time the Lord is going to come back and defeat that corrupt world leader and his empire, and set up His Eternal Kingdom on the earth. And on that day, all of the land in Texas, Colorado, Utah, California, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico, and Louisiana will be given to it’s rightful owners. The Lord will distribute the land according to who it rightfully belongs.
And I think the Arizona Law, because of it’s timing, media coverage and wording of the bill, is actually designed for the most part to be a distraction to throw the American people into disagreement and controversy. If they keep us fighting with each other, it’s hard for us to take notice of their agenda.
Our only hope is in Jesus Christ.
